"Tissue of Biblical Proportions"

By Mike Mehalek

Going back to the garden with that man and that woman would seem an unlikely place to begin. But as I shake off the slimy remnants of my birth, only to be covered in snot, my curiosity gets the best of me. The residual memory of Eden fades quickly, quicker than the time it takes for Eve's descendants to dispose of me properly. To think that my parchment flesh is considered a source of health, a medium to reduce illness and spawn recovery. How quickly her children forget that my ancestor played the vital role in the genesis of disease and death. Why stuff my skin--my woody tissues--into the very place God forbids?
